The 82,600 sq. m Passenger Terminal Building has a design capacity of 8 million passengers per year. This new passenger terminal is on schedule and will open in mid-2020.
Its strategic location is only three and a half hours from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Japan, Korea and other key points in Asia. This feature makes it a natural entry point to the Asia Pacific Region.
After completing the five phases, Clark International Airport is expected to accommodate 80 million passengers per year, which is at par with the biggest and most modern airports in the world.
Transportation Secretary Arthur Tugade also announced the planned construction of the second runway of the CRK which will double the capacity of the airport. This second runway is 2-km away from the existing runway which makes it an independent and simultaneous runway.
Such developments of the Clark International Airport are expected not just to decongest Ninoy Aquino International Airport but also to help create jobs in Central Luzon while enhancing the connectivity and mobility in our country.
